My name is Scot Villeneuve, and I'm a guitar addict (LOL!) I suppose I've always been in the business of buying and selling guitars... well, since I started playing at age 18 anyway. One thing that's been consistent: my love and passion for guitar music, especially The Blues.
When I mentioned starting a guitar business to my friend Paul, his reply was "dude, you've been doing this since I've known you." He was right! I suppose I've always been fascinated with electric guitars and amplifiers ever since I heard Layla during an episode of Miami Vice back in the '80s (loved that black Ferrari Daytona.)
So I'm selling the guitars and amps I think are cool, exceptional and sound good to me.
How I decide what to sell.
I buy guitars and amps to play. As a 30-year player and huge fan of the instrument, I ask myself “would I add this to my collection?” I figure that the same reasons I would are the same reasons you (fellow guitar aficionados) would!
I look at them 100% with a players eye: the feel, the action, playability and the tone. Not just the first strum of a C chord or the opening riff of Stairway (!) but going through the pickup selector, tone knobs, tuning machines, the trem, the neck, the frets… Not looking for perfection, but potential!
Sometimes guitars billed as “custom shop” or “plus deluxe” aren't as great as you'd think - and they are definitely NOT all equal. Our goal is to offer instruments that are special and have a story to tell!
Buying and selling.
Marketing has been my profession and passion since college in the early nineties. In 2003, I started a marketing firm called Big Hit Media, that specializes in website development, digital marketing and content creation. This experience is quite helpful in the marketing and selling of musical instruments.
